Hello! I'm Maria von Hatten, founder of Immaculata Kids!
I am a Catholic author and Marian Devotion advocate. I encourage families who desire to strengthen their faith and learn more about Mother Mary by writing engaging newsletters for the whole family to enjoy. I would like to introduce you to the Immaculata Kids Monthly Newsletters!
What is the Immaculata Kids Newsletter?
The Immaculata Kids Newsletter offers a fun way to teach children about Marian Intercession. Through the Newsletters, families can learn what Marian Devotion is, what it looks like and how they apply it to their own lives through relatable stories about a fictional Catholic Family.
The stories included in the newsletters explore Marian Apparitions and especially the power of Marian Intercession. Stories topics in the past include:
- Mary Gardens
- The Power of the Rosary
- Marian Intercession
- Setting Spiritual Goals
- Catholic Devotionals
- Our Lady of Clemency
- Our Lady of Rennes
- Our Lady of Guadalupe
- and more!
What is in the Newsletter?
There is a new Immaculata Kids Newsletter released every month.
Inside each Newsletter, you will find a Saints Quote, a list of major Marian feast days for that month, a small piece about a specific topic or feast day, a psalm, a new prayer, and a fictional story related to a certain Marian apparition or feast day.
These letters are appropriate for children between the ages of 5 and 12 and are geared for both boys and girls. The story topics for this coming year will focus on lesser known Marian apparitions from around the world.
The Story Behind Immaculata Kids - Encouraging Marian Devotion
Marian Devotion is something that has been present in my life since moving to Canada with my family when I was four years old. Going to Rosary Group every Tuesday after morning Mass to make Rosaries for the missions. Planning and planting Mary gardens at each new house we moved to. Making blueberry flavoured desserts on Marian feast days. Praying the Rosary regularly and learning about new to me Marian Apparitions.
Doing all of these things sparked a curiosity in me. I longed to know the history and meaning behind these things. Perhaps you have found yourself asking some of the same questions I had. Why did people start planting Mary Gardens? Why do we pray the Rosary? Why should we use Marian intercession? What does that even mean? Is it wrong to pray to Mary? Is there a Marian feast day every single day of the year?
As I began finding answers to these questions, I began to wonder if other people thought about the same things; asked themselves the same questions I wanted answers to as a child. As you may well know, children are very curious and ask many questions. In fact, they are famous for it. They try to figure things out for themselves and soak up tons of information. Because of this, I was inspired to share not only the questions I came across in my journey, but the answers I was discovering too.
Children don’t just want to be told what they should believe. They want to know why they should believe something, and furthermore they want to know exactly what it is they should be believing. They want to try to understand it.
Marian Devotion is something that is not as widely discussed in the Catholic faith. It is something that is encouraged, but not really explained or presented in way that is easy to understand, especially for children. St. Louis de Montfort’s writing is truly beautiful, but far beyond the comprehension of the average child.
The purpose of Immaculata Kids is to answer questions about our relationship with the Mother of God. To help them see what Marian Devotion can be and how they can apply it to their own lives.
I advocate Marian Devotion for families who desire to deepen their relationship with Jesus through the guidance and intercession of Our Lady. Mother Mary, pray for us!
